Passover Food Drive
The purpose of the Passover Food Drive is to provide many of the essential items of Passover to those in need. Passover is one of the most celebrated Jewish holidays among identified Jews everywhere.
The program aims to raise awareness that those among us in financial need require community assistance to celebrate this holiday in dignity.
Last year approximately 10,000 individuals were recipients of the Drive, including a significant proportion of seniors and children. It is anticipated that this year the need will be even greater.
National Council of Jewish Women of Canada, Toronto Section accepts referrals from agencies, synagogues, schools, service groups and chaplaincy services.
Recipients referred include:
- Individuals living in poverty
- Recent immigrants in need
- Individuals with disabilities and inadequate financial resources
- Jewish group homes, the Jewish homeless and kosher food banks
