Passover Food Drive HistoryDid You Know?In Each Box:

Thanks very much to all of our volunteers and to our sponsors and donors.

National Council of Jewish Women of Canada, Toronto Section began this project in 1983 to meet the needs of newly arrived families who had not celebrated the joy and the ritual of the Passover Seder.

From this beginning, the Passover Food Drive has grown to take up the challenge of ensuring that everyone in the Jewish community is able to celebrate Passover nutritiously, ritually and with pride of heritage.

March 28, 2004

I  have just received a box of Passover foods from two of your volunteers this morning.  I am touched at the kindness and effort that went into getting a newcomer, like myself, some things to make me feel a little more at home. Being away from home during the holidays is always difficult. But knowing that people are thinking of you and trying to ease the transition makes it that much easier. I really want to thank the National Council of Jewish Women of Canada and all the volunteers who took the time and effort to put together such a wonderful project.

Thank you,

    Y.L.

women and their children in the confines of a shelterstudents living away from home

those on a limited income for whom Passover is a huge financial burdenfamilies who have recently left the confines of a shelter

Over 3000 food boxes are packed and delivered.

Over 1500 volunteers give their time to sort, pack and deliver food boxes.

Foods that cannot be used are sent to food banks and shelters across the GTA.

Each food box contains most of the essentials needed for the Seder meal and for the week of Passover.

The Passover Food Drive is helped by our very generous corporate sponsors. Click to see the names of our sponsors and visit their Web sites.

As another initiative of the Passover Food Drive we have expanded our scope of service to provide holiday baskets to the wider community, Seder meals and essential food for women and children who have recently left the confines of a shelter.
