ALUMA

ALUMA

In 1954, Aguda Le’yeutz Uletipul behayay ha-Mishpacha, (ALUMA) formerly known as ISRAEL FAMILY COUNSELLING ASSOCIATION (IFCA), was created to help those families in need of therapeutic service who were not able to afford help in the private sector.

Today the ALUMA staff includes approximately 26 therapists, many social workers, 2 psychologists, a criminologist, an educational consultant and an art therapist, all with Masters degrees in their respective fields. During 2009, the staff gave over 2600 hours of treatment.

All the money raised for ALUMA by National Council of Jewish Women of Canada both nationally and in local sections, goes in its entirety to the organization.  Donations enable clients to receive a discount so that they get the treatment they need for as long deemed necessary. Donations to ALUMA also allow the therapists to be trained and receive upgraded training. There has been a tremendous increase in demand for these services so our commitment and dedication is now more crucial.

For the past 37 years, the National Council of Jewish Women of Canada has helped to keep this vital service alive. We are very passionate and proud of our long-standing commitment to this very special project, and will continue in our efforts to make an important difference to even one person’s life. The National Council Logo is on display at the Tel Aviv office as a sign of gratitude for all we have done.
