| The following are some programs and services that NCJWC-TS offers. If you would like to volunteer,
please complete our questionnaire to register.
(Adobe Reader required) Become A Reading Angel The Reading Angels program is designed to help children who may require special attention to enhance their reading skills. Caring volunteers work one-on-one with a child at the school with teacher supervision. How you can help? By devoting a couple of hours per week to read with a child. Universal Snack Program Help in the fight against child poverty. This program provides children in need with a nutritious snack or small meal. Volunteers provide these directly at the schools and sites where the need exists. How you can help? By devoting a couple of hours, one, two or three days per week, assisting in the preparation and distribution of snacks for the children in the schools. Seniors Lunch & Learn Programs This program provides a hot and nourishing meal followed by a stimulating afternoon with a guest speaker or performer. The program occurs on the last Tuesday of each month, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm, at Council House. How you can help? By devoting three hours per month assisting in the set-up and registration of the program, assisting with the preparation and serving of
lunch. Also, if you have a special talent, can perform in a play, play a musical instrument or sing or would like to discuss a topic of interest with the seniors, one hour per month is all that would be needed. After Shelter Program This program provides household items and furniture to residents of 13 women’s shelters in the GTA. How you can help? By devoting a few hours a month to help pick up, sort and deliver household items, (dishes, pots, pans, towels, linen, blankets, clothing, children’s games and toys, baby items) to Council House and/or to shelters. Also, if you have a special talent in make –up artistry, hair design or a fashion flair, can do arts & crafts with children, then three hours per month is all that would be needed. Annual Passover Food Drive - The food drive of the community! Help us to help make a difference in the lives of so many. Each year, we at NCJWC-TS, assist thousands of Jewish immigrants, shut ins, seniors, the disabled, welfare recipients, the incarcerated, the homeless, students and those in shelters, to celebrate Passover with dignity by providing the necessities for a
Seder meal. You, your family, your shul sisterhood, organization, student union can be a part of this rewarding and worthwhile program. How you can help? By devoting as much time as you possibly can to this event. Help by picking up donated food from stores, food sorting, planning routes and delivering food boxes on the day of delivery.
